Munising’s Dayne Behning, Trevor Nolan honored at MHSAA boys basketball state finals

igan High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Award in Class C and Class D were Dayne Behning and Trevor Nolan of Munising High School (Class C) and Joshua Grant of Dollar Bay High School (Class D). Cosponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance, their awards were presented along with recipients in classes A and B during the MHSAA boys basketball championship games played Saturday at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center at Michigan State University in East Lansing. A presentation made by MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl and Farm Bureau Insurance Chief Executive Officer Don Simon awarded $2,000 scholarships funded by Farm Bureau to each of 32 recipients to be used at an institution they attend this fall. Students were chosen for having a 3.50 or higher grade-point average, having previously lettered in a sport with an MHSAA postseason tournament, and written an essay on the importance of sportsmanship in high school athletics. The only other U.P. recipient this year was Madelynn Kreider of Kingsford, while Munising was the only school in the two smaller classes statewide to have multiple recipients this year.
