MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University men’s basketball junior Dylan Kuehl picked up his latest honor, NMU Sports Information announced Monday.

The 6-foot-6 forward from Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ All-District team, an honor voted upon by fellow NABC member coaches in NCAA Division II.

Kuehl was the only player in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to score in double figures in every conference game in the regular season, averaging 17.6 points per game in those 20 games. Overall in the regular season, he hit at a 16.6 ppg clip, fifth in the league; along with shooting 50.4% from the field, second in the league; and grabbing 6.9 rebounds per game, fourth overall in the conference.

He scored a career-high 31 points on Feb. 15 vs. Ferris State and followed it up with back-to-back double-doubles against Michigan Tech and Roosevelt.

Kuehl became the 35th Northern men’s player to reach the 1,000-point plateau and first since Max Bjorklund accomplished that feat in February 2022.

Kuehl also won a similar award 10 days earlier, receiving a Midwest Second Team all-region honor by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association.

Sports information directors from Division II Midwest Region schools and conferences selected these all-region teams, which will include All-American selections later this month.

All this came after Kuehl and several of his teammates earned GLIAC season and tournament awards in early March.

Kuehl was named to the All-GLIAC First Team and All-Defensive Team, each for the third straight season.

While he was the only Wildcat to earn a season award from the league, two of his teammates were named to the GLIAC All-Tournament team named in the aftermath of Northern’s 78-63 victory over Lake Superior State for the tourney championship in Houghton on March 9.

One of those Wildcat honorees, 6-7 junior forward Jackson Dudek of Kimberly, Wisconsin, was also named tourney MVP, while 6-1 senior guard Brian Parzych of Milwaukee made the all-tourney team.
