Michigan Tech names Cindy Pindral as head volleyball coach less than a week after Matt Jennings resigned
HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech University moved quickly to name a new head volleyball coach after Matt Jennings announced his resignation last Tuesday.
Replacing Jennings, who had a 13-year stint with the Huskies, will be former Tech assistant Cindy Pindral. She spent seven seasons with Jennings as a volunteer coach, assistant coach and assistant head coach from 2016-22.
“Cindy was an integral part of the successes our volleyball team has had in recent years,” Tech Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Suzanne Sanregret said in an MTU Sports Information news release on Monday.
During her seven years with the Huskies, they had a 139-62 record, winning a pair of regular-season GLIAC championships and going to four straight NCAA tournaments. The Huskies won a pair of matches at those national events.
In that stint, not only was she involved in nearly all phases of the program, she was lead coach of Tech’s youth programs in the sport.
She played at the University of Florida for a year and at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs for three years from 2008-11.
After college, she played a season professionally in the Italian Serie C League. And before college, she was an All-American honorable mention at Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs.
