MARQUETTE — Led by senior Jaylee Dellies, a half-dozen Marquette Senior High School volleyball players earned honors when the Great Northern Conference handed out its postseason awards recently.

Dellies, a libero, was named one of two Defensive Players of the Year, sharing the honor with senior libero Ellery Nash of Kingsford.

The five-team league made up of most of the Upper Peninsula’s largest schools also includes Gladstone, Escanaba and Menominee.

Two Sentinels earned First Team honors, senior middle blocker Brianna Anderson and sophomore outside hitter Grace Filizetti.

Two more MSHS players made the Second Team — senior outside hitter Ava Maki and senior setter-right-side hitter Roegen Hruska.

And senior right-side hitter Jocelyn Mead earned Honorable Mention.

Kingsford, which compiled a perfect 8-0 record in GNC matches, won all or a share of each of the three special awards. Marquette, which finished 4-4 in the GNC, got their half of the top defensive award.

Flivvers’ senior setter-outside hitter Maddy Kreider was named Player of the Year, Nash the co-Defensive Player of the Year and Jaclynn Kreider the Coach of the Year.
