MARQUETTE — Nearly two dozen area high school volleyball players earned All-Upper Peninsula honors when the U.P. Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association decided on those awards at its annual fall meeting on Nov. 18 at Northern Michigan University.

This was the second annual version of these volleyball awards, looking at all schools across the U.P.

The top area honors went to a pair of seniors Jaylee Dellies of Marquette and Leah Goudreau of Manistique, each being named to the 16-member, all-division All-U.P. Dream Team.

That group was initially slated to include 15 players, but a tie left one extra player making it.

Another half-dozen players were named to their divisions’ First Team.

In Divisions 1-3, all were seniors — Janelle Rautiola and Theresa Anderson of Negaunee and Kamry Flodin of Manistique.

In Division 4, the trio included senior Bailey Corcoran and freshman Addie Bowerman of Munising, along with senior Amelia Shanley of Newberry.

There were another 14 players making Special Mention and Honorable Mention. Special Mention was reserved for those who missed the cut for First Team in their division.

In Divisions 1-3, Special Mention went out to Brianna Anderson, Grace Filizetti, Ava Maki and Roegen Hruska of Marquette; Sonja Kiviniemi of Ishpeming; Kadence Ruggerio of Gwinn; and Maya Carlson of Manistique.

The D 1-3 Honorable Mention was given to Aubrey Paquin of Gwinn.

In Division 4, Special Mention were awarded to Carissa Deatsman of Munising, Kylie Stuer of Superior Central and Ivanna Kapkova of Newberry.

The D-4 Honorable Mention made it to Ruth Johnson of SC and Alazayah Depew and Allie Whalen of Newberry.
