Pine Mountain Ski Jump in Iron Mountain gets contribution from We Energies Foundation
We Energies Foundation has contributed $5,000 to the Kiwanis Ski Club for the Pine Mountain Ski Jump in Iron Mountain. From left are Leah VanZile, We Energies Foundation; Nick Blagec, president of the Kiwanis Ski Club; and Jenna Thom and Marybeth Negro, We Energies Foundation. The funds are being used to pay for renovation of the new ski jump tower at Pine Mountain, and foundation team members visited the ski jump to see first-hand what their contribution helped create. Tower renovation and other infrastructure upgrades are required by the International Ski Federation for Pine Mountain to continue hosting international events, including scaling up for World Cup ski jumping. Contributions like this one is allowing the upgrades to happen as the annual Pine Mountain ski jumping event is touted as bringing in more than $1.5 million in economic impact to the region.
