It’s an all-Great Northern Conference 5: Marquette’s Kyley Elmblad, Brianna Anderson, Aubree Blackburn among top league girls
MARQUETTE — Five players from Marquette Senior High School — just the number needed to put a basketball team on the gym floor — were honored when Great Northern Conference girls awards were announced recently.
The Sentinels finished the season with 6-15 overall and 2-6 GNC records.
The MSHS honorees were led by senior center Kyley Elmblad, who was named to the GNC First Team.
Junior forward Brianna Anderson represented Marquette on the Second Team, while junior guard Aubree Blackburn was named to the Defensive Team.
The Sentinels honorees were rounded out by a pair of guards, senior Lexi L’Huillier and sophomore Lexi Curran, who were named Honorable Mention.
Gladstone sophomore Lillie Johnson was named the GNC Player of the Year, while the Defensive Player of the Year was shared by a pair of seniors, Escanaba’s Keira Maki and Menominee’s Anna Axtell.
