To the Journal editor:

I had composed the letter below several days ago but now with the events surrounding the “War Planning Group Chat” I feel it is ever more important.

To all Congressional Republicans:

As I watched the State of the Union this year, it convinced me that all of the congressional Republicans are truly part of a cult. Like zombies under the spell of a soulless master, they rose to applaud the most trivial and baseless claims that Trump made.

Fast forward a few weeks, I see now why president Musk wants to eliminate the Department of Education. Yes, keep the populace uneducated so that tyranny can rein. Perhaps neither you, nor those that voted for you, took a civics class in high school?

If you/they had, you would all remember that there are three branches of government: the Executive, the Legislative and the Judiciary, each one serving as the checks and balances of the other. I gather you neither heard of the “Power of the Purse” which resides solely with the Legislative branch?

You Republican(s) … have ceded power to the executive and have allowed the corruption of the judiciary (Supreme Court included). In control of the House you have wasted significant time and money on goose chases which have not one shred of merit. Remember, you have taken an oath not to a dictator but to uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Generations of veterans and public servants have taken this oath and fought for decades to promote democracy here at home and throughout the world. You are not! Instead you support calling those people losers and have tainted their integrity through your cult induced stupor and lies.

So, the real question I have is, what does Trump have on you and what does Russia have on him? It certainly appears that neither you, nor President Trump has the country’s interest at heart as evidenced by your sucking up to billionaires.

In closing, it is time for you to stop swallowing the Kool-Aid opioids that Musk and Trump are feeding you and uphold the oath that you have taken. To quote protesters during the Chicago Seven Trial, “The Whole World is Watching.” Stop the insanity.
