Prosecutor, court did right thing
To the Journal editor:
I am not an attorney, nor am I a para-legal. I am a parent. I write to commend our prosecuting attorney and the court.
Recently, a convicted child-porn and child abuser asked the court to review his punishment. His point was that no testimony concerning psychological harm done to the child was presented “in evidence.”
As a parent, I would not want my child to have confront the abuser in an open court room. I would consider such an appearance to be further abuse. No child should have to testify in open court.
Can you imagine the additional trauma that would cause the victim? I applaud the court’s decision in sparing that additional serious situation from occurring.
