Easter weekend finally here
Easter weekend is upon us, and there are quite a few events to get locals in the holiday spirit.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, west enders can have lunch with the Easter Bunny at the Ishpeming VFW. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. The VFW post 4573 is located at 310 Bank St. in Ishpeming.
On Saturday, the United Way and Kiwanis Club of Marquette will put on a Kids Easter Egg Hunt at Presque Isle Park. More than 5,000 toy-filled eggs will be hidden in the green space near the band shell.
The hunt starts at 11 a.m., but participants are urged to arrive early.
That’s not the only egg hunt in the area on Saturday. The Chocolay Lions Club will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt for the 23rd year from 11 a.m. to noon at the Silver Creek Church in Marquette.
On Sunday, the Ishpeming Elks Lodge will once again be hosting a free Easter dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 597 Lakeshore Drive in Ishpeming.
The event is free to all and will be open for dine-in and takeout options.
Diners can expect to find a classic Easter dinner on offer, including ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, glazed carrots, dinner rolls and carrot cake, according to event organizer Dawn Lambert.
Those looking to reserve their meal should call 906-451-4951.
These are only a few examples of the festive events being held in the region this weekend. No matter how you choose to celebrate this weekend, we would like to wish everyone a happy Easter weekend.
