Steven Durand

Steven was born in Ishpeming on July 11, 1963, son of Lois (Annala) Durand and the late Leonard Durand. He attended Ishpeming High School and was a graduate with the class of 1981. Following graduation he went on to study Industrial Maintenance at Northern Michigan University where he graduated with an associate degree. Soon after, he moved down to Texas briefly before settling down in California where he spent over 30 years before returning home to the UP.

Steven was a member of the Sons of the AmVets post 122. He loved animals, and fostered many dogs while living in California. In his younger years Steven enjoyed going fishing and camping. He also enjoyed playing cribbage, doing crossword puzzles, as well as taking the occasional trip to the casino.

Steven is survived by his mother- Lois (Annala) Durand, sister- Lisa (Gary) Brewer, brother- Gregg (Laurie) Durand, his beloved cats, along with numerous nieces, and nephews, including 2 special great nephews who were instrumental in helping Steven with any of his needs.

Steven was preceded in death by his father- Leonard Durand.

Per Steven’s wishes there will be no service, remember him next time you have beer and pizza.

Steven will be interred in the Ishpeming Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UPAWS in memory of Steven.
