Peter Engstrom

Peter was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on August 26, 1951, a son, of the late Albert A. and Barbara S. (Jenkins) Engstrom. Pete graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1969.

Following 1 year of college Pete enlisted in the US. Navy where he would spend the next 24 years with service to his country, being honorably discharged in 1993.

Pete enjoyed being around family, camping, boating, traveling and spending time at camp on the Dead River. He will be missed by his feline friend “Kitty”.

Pete is survived by his wife Sandi (Oja) Engstrom , whom he married on April 16, 2008, children: Jessie Aho, Josh (Nikki Schneider) Aho, Jeremy (Angel Parris) Aho, Jenni (Tommy McLoughlin) Aho, Dominicque, Bailey (Madison), and Nolan, a brother Rick (Sharon) Engstrom of Alpena, a sister Bee (Ricky Duhame) Engstrom, sister-in-law Susan (Jeff Key) Oja of Madison, WI, brother-in-law Dan Oja of Savannah, GA, Grandchildren; Cassidy, Savanna, Xander, Calienna, Adaleighna, and Tommy, 1 great grandson, Colton, along with several nieces and nephews.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Barbara Engstrom, a grandson Cody, brother-in-law Paul Oja and his in-laws Edward and Edna Mae Oja.

Pete’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with Tony Pope to officiate.

Interment will take place at the Ishpeming Cemetery where the U.S. Navy will accord Military Honors.

A potluck lunch will follow the service at the Ishpeming Township Hall.
