Lana Heyrman

SHINGLETON, MI- Lana J. Heyrman, age 73, of Shingleton, died Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 7, 1951 in Munising to the late Roy and Winnie (Higby) Shepley. Lana met Frank Heyrman, Jr., when he offered her a ride on his motorcycle, Lana hopped on the bike, wrapped her arms around Frank and never let go. They were married on November 25, 1967. Lana was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she and Frank purchased Club Majestic in 1984 and created the Bear Trap. Lana ran the show at the Trap and when Frank got home from work she would have a list for him at the restaurant. In her early years Lana cooked, waitressed, bartended, cleaned, and took care of all the bookkeeping. As the years went on, she surrounded herself with a great staff that she cherished. Lana loved the people she met at the Bear Trap, her local regulars, families from the community, the tourists enjoying the beauty of the U.P., and the snowmobilers that would come back year after year to see Lana and Frank who became like family.

Frank and Lana retired in 2021 after running the bar for 37 years. Lana loved being a grandma and would do anything for her grand and great-grandkids. When they were younger, the Heyrman, Hill, Burke, and Steinhoff families would spend the month of August camping at Cusino Lake sharing stories and meals around the fire and letting the kids run wild in the woods. Lana also enjoyed her coffee klatches with her friends and looked forward to going to each other’s homes and hosting at her house.

Lana was an honest and caring person. She grew up in hard times and would go out of her way to give back and help those who needed a boost. She would buy toys, school supplies, and winter clothing for kids, help someone with their bills, or make care packages to pass out when she visited residents at the nursing home. Lana was a member at Sacred Heart Church. In retirement, Lana liked taking trips to the casino and rides with Frank to see the sights and count the deer.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years – Frank Heyrman of Shingleton; son – Frank “Frankie” Heyrman III of Shingleton, daughter and son-in-law – Carol and Larry Tweedale of Ishpeming; grandchildren – Chelsey (Zach) Boucher, Tyler (Leah) Tweedale, Brianne Heyrman, and Hailey and Frankie “Joey” Heyrman; great-grandchildren – T.J., Jack, Danny, Konner, and Paisley; sister – Mazie (Pete) Hebert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lana was preceded in death by her parents – Roy and Winnie; son – Brian “Bub” Heyrman; and sisters – Vivian and Candy.
