Edward Paveglio

MARQUETTE MI – Edward Joseph Paveglio, age 82, of Marquette, passed away on March 27, 2025 at the Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti, where he had been a resident for nine years.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ed’s generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family and community will be dearly missed.

Born and raised in Marquette, Michigan, the son of Edward and Ervilla (Johnson) Paveglio, Ed graduated from Graveraet High School in 1962. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for six years during the Vietnam era, achieving the rank of First Class Petty Officer as a water treatment plant operator. He was assigned to the USS Haleakala and the USS Hector and received numerous honors for his dedicated service.

Following his military service, Ed returned home to Marquette, where he began his career with UP Power Company/Wisconsin Electric. It was there that he met the love of his life, Terry. The two were married on January 2, 1997, and built a beautiful life together. Ed worked at the Presque Isle Power Plant for 33 years, holding many positions before retiring in 2000 as a Chemical Foreman.

A man of many talents and passions, Ed enjoyed woodworking–always happy to take on a project for Terry–and lovingly crafted cedar chests for each of his daughters. He also found joy in hunting, working on cars, reading, and walking in the woods. A keen investor, he followed the stock market closely and generously shared his financial advice with others. He was a natural mentor, offering guidance both in the military and to young adults in recent years. A proud supporter of the UP Whitetails and the Commemorative Bucks of Michigan, Ed deeply valued the great outdoors.

Above all, family was Ed’s greatest pride. He supported his loved ones in all their endeavors and was known for his generous heart and quick wit. He loved a good joke, especially a dirty one and never missed a chance to bring laughter to those around him. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Terry; his children, Barbara (Paul) Conwell of Freeport, Maine, Christy (Dan) Stine of Royal Oak, Michigan, and Billie Mae (Michael Brinker) Paveglio of Marquette; and his beloved grandchildren, Ethan and Sadie Stine, Natalie Neher, and Camden and Nolan Conwell. He also leaves behind his sisters, Nancy Mager and Toni Peterson, as well as several nieces and nephews and good friends, Steve and Shelly Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Jim Dionne and Marilyn and Jack DuMoulin; his brothers-in-law, Robert Mager and Keith Peterson; and his infant sister Mary Margaret.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff of D.J. Jacobetti, especially those in the One South Wing, for their compassionate care during Ed’s illness.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the Canale Tonella Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Veterans honors will be held at 12:00 pm in the funeral home with a reception to follow.
