Shawn Radcliffe Sr.

REPUBLIC, MI- Shawn “Pat” Radcliffe Sr., age 74, longtime Republic resident, passed away unexpectedly on Friday March 14, 2025 at his home.
Pat was born in Dallas, TX on December 13, 1950, son of the late George and Margaret (Heinonen) Radcliffe. Pat was a graduate of Republic-Michigamme High School, class of 1970. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army until his honorable discharge in May of 1972. Pat married his wife, Victoria Lyyski on May 26, 1973 in Republic; they were married for over 51 years and raised three sons. Their family spent many years camping and fishing out at Squaw Lake. Pat worked for Cleveland Cliffs Mining company, retiring in 2009. He served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Republic Fire Department for nearly 50 years.
Pat and his sons built their family deer camp in 1993, they enjoyed many years hunting out at deer camp together. He enjoyed fly fishing, the Chicago Cubs, or as he fondly referred to them as “the Cubbies” and watching the Green Bay Packers.
Pat is survived by his wife, Victoria (Lyyski) Radcliffe, and two sons, William “Bill” (April) Radcliffe, Joseph “Joe” (Amy) Radcliffe, brother- Michael (Beverly) Radcliffe. Pat has nine grandchildren: Bryce and Christian; Allie, Alexa, and Brody; Trinity, Faith, RaeAnn, and Jack. Pat also has one great grandchild, Orion, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Valderay (Radcliffe) Pietila and her husband William “Peach” Pietila, and son, Shawn Patrick “Yo” Radcliffe Jr.
Pat’s family will greet relatives and friends on Friday March 21, 2025 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church located at 110 Poplar St. Republic, MI 49879. Pat’s funeral service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Alex Ross officiating. Military Honors will be accorded at the conclusion of the service by the UP Honor Team. A potluck luncheon will follow in the church hall. A cemetery burial will be scheduled at a later date in the Republic Twp. Cemetery.
