Marianne Maynard

MARQUETTE, MI- Marianne Laura Maynard, age 57, of Marquette, passed away March 13, 2025 at UP Health System Marquette in the loving care of her family.
She was an adored mother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and selflessness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on March 22, 1967, the daughter of Paul and Kathleen (LaRue) Maynard, Marianne was raised in Chelsea and Munising, Michigan, before settling in Marquette. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School with the Class of 1985 and went on to attend cosmetology school at Northern Michigan University, where she pursued her passion for hairstyling. As a dedicated hairdresser, she spent most of her adult life making others feel beautiful, both inside and out.
Not only did Marianne take great pride in being a mother and found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She also supported her community through her 27-year membership to the Elks in Marquette. She cherished attending family events, playing card games, and caring for others in any way she could. An avid reader, she loved losing herself in books, but never lost sight of what mattered most–the people she loved. She was known for her quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to those around her. She always put others before herself, embodying goodwill, protection, and selflessness in every aspect of her life. Marianne was strong beyond words as she struggled with her health for many years.
She is survived by her beloved son, Matthew (Dakota) Menze of Marquette; her loving siblings, Dan (Julie) Maynard of Christmas, Debbie Maynard of Marquette, Bob (Georgie) Maynard of Marquette, Tom Maynard of Marquette, Bill (Mary) Maynard of Marquette, and Joanne (Don) O’Neill of Marquette; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, who now welcome her with open arms.
A celebration of Marianne’s life will be held at a later date where family and friends can gather to honor her memory.
Marianne’s family wishes to thank the UP Health System ICU nurses and doctors for their dedication to caring for Marianne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UPAWS (Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter) 815 South M-553, Gwinn, MI 49841.
