Theodora Magnuson

TILDEN TWP, MI- Theodora Anne “Teddy” Magnuson, age 88, of Tilden Township, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at UP Health System Marquette.

Theodora was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on September 22, 1936, a daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Kangas) Patron. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1954.

Soon after graduation she met her future husband and best friend, Fred Magnuson. They were married on August 13th, 1955, blessed with spending the next 69 years together. They established a home in West Ishpeming and raised two sons. Teddy worked in retail for many years including Dubinsky’s Clothing and Jim’s Westgate IGA. She enjoyed working with the public, always greeting folks with a smile and a kind word.

Teddy had a strong Christian Faith and a love for Jesus and people. She was a prayer warrior with a joyful spirit. As a devoted member of Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church, she faithfully served in numerous church ministries over many decades including the Women’s Missionary Federation, the quilting group (making countless quilts for local and far away missions). She often served her faith community by sharing her love of cooking in the church’s hospitality ministry.

Teddy and Fred enjoyed traveling, especially wherever their son Roger was residing. Their favorites included Alaska, Arizona, Montana, and Nevada. Teddy was a voracious reader! Other hobbies include working on puzzles, word search games, and various card games. She was an excellent scrabble player as well.

Teddy is survived by her husband Fred Magnuson, two sons, Roger (Lori) Magnuson and Scott (Diane) Magnuson; four grandchildren, Whitney (Kyle) Magnuson, Ryan (fiancee Kelsey) Magnuson, Derrick (Jamie) Magnuson, Danielle (Josh) Cittadino; a brother Dean (Paulette) Patron along with 6 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Teddy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Peter, Ronald, Paul, Duane, Meade, and a sister Gail Robertson.

Teddy’s family will greet relatives and friends from 10:00 – 11:30 am on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church where her memorial service will be held at 11:30 am with Jordan Langness to officiate.

A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.

Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery at a date to be determined.
