BIG BAY, MI- Robert Wesley “Sox” Remington, Sr, age 76, of Big Bay, entered eternal life Sunday, February 9, 2025, at UP Health System – Marquette. He passed following a long illness and congestive heart failure due to Agent Orange from serving two tours of duty in Vietnam.
Sox was born July 9, 1948, in Iron Mountain, a son of Wallace Joseph and Esther Helen (Wuokko) Remington, and was drafted into the US Army following graduation from high school. He resided in Big Bay for over 20 years. His hobbies and interests included collecting antique autos and snowmobiles, enjoying mud drags in Big Bay, watching his favorite TV show Judge Judy, and being an avid fisherman and deer hunter. Sox was a member of the 550 Snowmobile Club and won many trophies at antique auto shows over the years.
Sox is survived by his daughter, Tammy Jo (Remington) Oliver of Nevada, and his son, Robert Remington Jr of Utah; and a grandson, Gregory Harding of Colorado; three brothers, John (Carolyn) Remington of Green Bay, WI, Wallace Remington Jr of Ishpeming, Mark Remington of Marquette; four sisters, Betty (Floyd) Sommers of Marquette, Brenda Falkowski of Ann Arbor, Wanda (Clayton) LaMere of Marquette, and Diane Pascoe of Blissfield; many nieces and nephews.
Sox was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Lloyd “Lefty” Remington.
The burial will be made in the Big Bay Cemetery.
A celebration of Sox’s life will be held at Perkins Park in Big Bay in the summer of 2025.
