Paul Feltner

MARQUETTE TWP, MI – Paul Feltner, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed peacefully surrounded by his family on February 20, 2025, at UPHS.

He was known for his unwavering faith, boundless love, and deep commitment to his family.

Paul was born April 16, 1941, in Marquette, a son of Robert and Mary (DePetro) Feltner.

Hilma was Paul’s beloved wife. Their love story began when he played guitar in a band. He tried to get her name but Hilma wouldn’t tell him. He then sang the song “Sweet Pea” which later became her nick name. He said I am going to marry that girl and eventually he did. They were married for 58 years.

Paul was the proud father of four daughters, each of whom he adored. His family expanded with the addition of four devoted sons-in-law and nine precious grandchildren which he cherished dearly.

A lifelong athlete, Paul derived great joy from sports. He was a dedicated hockey player who continued to skate until he was 83, a passionate golfer, and an avid Harley-Davidson rider. In his youth, he also enjoyed stock car and motorcycle racing.

He took immense pleasure in watching his seven grandsons play sports including his favorite – hockey and attending every game he could. He also loved cheering on his granddaughters as they danced, played soccer, tennis, and figure skated.

Paul was a valued member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Christopher Church. His faith as a devoted Catholic was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him with kindness, generosity, and unwavering belief. Additionally, Paul was a member of the St. Christopher Men’s Club, Knights of Columbus, and Rosary Group.

Paul’s legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and faith will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He shared a special bond with his sister, Judy, and treasured the time spent with his family. His spirit will continue to ride with the wind, skate across the ice, and walk alongside those he loved most.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Hilma, affectionately known as “The Boss”; his daughters, Gina (Chris) Bouws, Cindy (Chris) Limback, Bobbi (Adam) Carpenter, and Katrina (Mike) Mattila; and his cherished grandchildren, Rhett, Owen, Caden, Amelia, Landon, Evan, Nadia, Liam, and Jacob. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Mike) Stowe; sisters-in-law, Wanda Pietila and Addie Beauchaine; brother-in-law, James Bieniewski; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, Michael Stowe, Jr and Keith Stowe; and a niece, Bonnie Stowe.

Paul’s life will be celebrated at St. Christopher Church. The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Christopher Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 26, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with Rev. Dan Moll, pastor, as celebrant. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
