ISHPEMING, MI- Cynthia Lynn DeCaire, age 64, former Negaunee resident, and longtime Ishpeming resident, passed away on Tuesday February 4, 2025, at her home while in the loving care of her family, and UP Home Health and Hospice.
Cynthia was born on December 31, 1960, in Marquette, daughter of the late William and Phyllis (Kangas) Bleau. She grew up in Negaunee graduating from Negaunee High School with the class of 1979. She married her husband Robert “Louie” DeCaire on August 22, 1981.
Cynthia worked as a nurse’s aide and with the kitchen staff at MCMCF and was also self employed as a home cleaner. She was a member of the Ishpeming Pool League, and the Ishpeming Horseshoe league. Cynthia enjoyed trips to the casino, going camping, being with family and friends and raising her grandchildren.
Cynthia is survived by her husband of 43 years- Robert “Louie” DeCaire, 2 children- Michael (Lisa) DeCaire, Kristi (Mike Nuckols) DeCaire, 2 siblings- Debbie Mack, John Bleau, 6 grandchildren- Aiden, Jimmy, Rylan, Haylee, Ashley, Anissa, with one granddaughter on the way who will be Cynthia’s namesake. She is further survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers- William and Robert Bleau, and sister- Linda Symons.
Cynthia’s family would like to thank the University of Chicago and all of their nurses and doctors for their wonderful, kind and compassionate care. They would also like to thank the nurses and doctors at UP Health System Bell and Marquette, as well as UP Home Health and Hospice for their kind and compassionate care, including my angel Paula who got me through this.
Cynthia wished to thank her many friends she had through the years, especially her close friend Kim Paquette, and her dog little itsy Bitsy for helping get her through the hard times.
Most of all Cynthia wanted to thank her husband Louie for getting her through the last years of her life. She couldn’t do it without him. “Thank you, God, for putting him into my life, I love him so much!”
Honoring Cindy’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
