MARQUETTE, MI- Cheryl Lynn “Cherie” June, age 70, of Marquette, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at UP Health System-Marquette, surrounded by her children.
Born October 8, 1954, in Marquette, a daughter of Francis Alfred “Skip” and Shirley Doreen (Normand) Matson, Cherie was raised briefly in Munising, attending the Munising elementary school. As a young child, her family moved to the Trowbridge Park area of Marquette. She graduated from Marquette Senior High School, Class of 1972, and enrolled at Northern Michigan University pursuing a course in bookkeeping. She loved to cook her favorite foods, spaghetti and several recipes handed down from her mother. Cherie always had a home cooked meal on the table and her next meals were always laid out in advance. She collected Black Bear memorabilia and many knick-knacks.
Throughout the years, Cherie had several extra friends that were her second children, but her best friends were her five children.
On August 19, 2005, she married her high school sweetheart, David June, and together they enjoyed each other’s company, camping, going to the casinos, and family gatherings.
Cherie was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Alfred “Skip” and Shirley Doreen (Normand) Matson; and a grandson, Bentley Doren Edward.
