Carol Wedig

MARQUETTE, MI – Carol Frances Wedig, age 94, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Born August 29, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a daughter of Simon and Florence (Loessel) Markwiecz, Carol was raised in Milwaukee where she graduated from Washington High School, Class of 1946. Among her first work experiences was employment at First Wisconsin Bank in Milwaukee. In 1953, Carol was united in marriage to John Wedig and together the couple established their first home and began raising their family in the Milwaukee area. Following John’s retirement, the couple relocated to Clearwater, Florida. In 2012 they moved to the Marquette area. Carol was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker who enjoyed reading, riding her three wheeled bike, sewing, knitting, and walking. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Mary Wedig of Marquette and Dale (Cindy) Wedig of Trenary; three grandchildren, Tiffany (Ray) Juidici, Isaac (Sydnie) Wedig and Isabella (John Paul) Cherniawski; seven great-grandchildren, Louis, Gemma, Gianna, Ave, Giovanni, Bosco Juidici, and Daniel Cherniawski.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 63 years, John Wedig, in 2016.
Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Thursday, February 27, beginning at 12:00 noon followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Greg Heikkala, pastor, as celebrant.
