Vola Bleile
MENOMINEE, MI- Vola G. Hill O’Shaughnessy Bleile, aged 78, of Stephenson, Michigan, passed away on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on June 15, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Vola was the daughter of George Edward Hill and Julia Mandane Gallup, of Marquette, MI. She lived in Marquette for many years where she met her first husband, Brendan James O’Shaughnessy, whom she married in 1967.
A resident of Stephenson for over 40 years, Vola was a real estate agent at State Wide Real Estate in Menominee, Michigan for years and was very active as a volunteer with Menominee County Parks & Recreation and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
She will be remembered for her love of food and cooking, gardening, and knitting, as well as her ability to eat her weight in lobster.
Vola is survived by her husband, Al Bleile, of Stephenson, Michigan, daughter Nancy Alma Turner-Hastings of Littleton, Colorado, son James George O’Shaughnessy of Santa Ynez, California, daughter Julia Dayne Giona of Le Pradet, France, and daughter Anna-Britta White of Hermosillo, Mexico and cousins Jim and Donna Sweet of Amelia Island, Florida. Dear friends include Patricia and Clair Sawyer of Gresham, Wisconsin, Jim and Renee Revall of Stephenson, Michigan, and Glenn Cody and David Eagleton of Daggett, Michigan.
Vola enjoyed six grandchildren: Brendan James Gonzalez, Natalie Mae O’Shaughnessy, Noah Arwood White, Daisy Dayne Giona, Nixon Christopher White, and Luca Brendan Giona.
Vola was predeceased by her first husband, Brendan James O’Shaughnessy, her first grandson, Brendan James Gonzalez, and her parents, Julia Mandane Gallup and George Edward Hill.
Per Vola’s request, no funeral will be held. The family requests that any donations be made to CASA of Menominee/Marinette in her name.
