Robert Fromm
MISHICOT, WI-Robert L. Fromm, 74, of Mishicot, WI, passed away peacefully of Parkinson’s Disease on December 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and caretakers.
Born on March 9, 1950 in Munising, Michigan, Robert lived a life filled with love, kindness, and dedication to his family and friends. He was proud of being a teaser and jokester.
Robert was a graduate of Mather High School in 1968, Munising, MI; attended Michigan Tech, Houghton, MI; and graduated from Northern Michigan, Marquette, MI with a bachelor’s degree. Bob worked various jobs. He was a painter for many years. He then began working for LS & I Railroad unloading ore from the railroad cars onto the ore boats in Marquette, MI until retiring in 2016. He was proud to have helped clean up the 1989 Exon Valdez oil spill, spending several months in Alaska.
Outside of his career, Bob, sometimes called Bubba, had a passion for playing cards, especially bridge with his mom, playing cribbage tournaments, and golfing. He loved to travel, the last place visited with his wife was Iceland. He loved and respected the outdoor environment. After he retired Bob began playing sheepshead at the Mishicot and Two Rivers Senior Centers. Bob was a lifelong supporter of Lions Football and Redwings Hockey. Prior to Bob’s passing he said the Lions are going to win the Super Bowl this year. He had a tremendous amount of faith and would challenge the clergy with bible questions, sometimes stumping them. Bob also served on the Worship Committee at Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Ahrens of 32 years; his son & daughter-in-law, John L. and Janelle Fromm; and his grandson, Joseph L. Fromm. Bob is further survived by his brother, H. Vincent Fromm; Bob’s Godchildren: Howard Fromm and Molly Matson Pavlat, along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie (Pelletier) Fromm; brother & sister-in-law, Richard (Dick) and Jeannine Fromm; sisters-in-law: Kristine Fromm, and Nona Pravechek. He was also preceded in death by his Godmother Estelle Anderson and two dear friends: cousin Charlie Anderson and Ernie (Ron) Matson. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his qualities, love for his wife, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson. His sense of humor, generosity, compassion, and respect for others.
A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 423 S. Main Street Mishicot, WI 54228. Visitation will be held from 9-11 am, with the service beginning at 11 am. A luncheon will follow.
In lieu of flowers, prior to Bob’s death he said he wanted to send money to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warriors. The family also requests donations to Mishicot Fire and Rescue as they consistently treated Bob with kindness and respect.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Sharon Richardson Hospice, especially Samantha and Stephanie. Other care givers helping Nancy care for Bob, Sandy Melchek, Clara Pekarek, and Lynne Neuser. We would also like to thank those that came to sit with Bob and socialize with over the past year, Kathy, Susie, Julie, Kris, Lee, Ann, Debbie, Joe, Jeanette, Blaze, Rocker, Kevin, Pat, and Diane. We also acknowledge those that called and or took the time to text, especially those that helped maintain the house by yardwork, snow removal, lifting items and or getting equipment started, Leela, Jody, Aaron, Jim, Mark, and Michael. We are deeply sorry if we have forgotten anyone that had a bearing on Bob’s life.
Bob will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love shared by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
