Ricky Stansky

DULUTH, MN- Ricky ‘Rick’ D. Stansky, 55, of Superior died Saturday January 18, 2025, at Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

Rick was born in Cloquet, MN on March 27, 1969, the son of Donald and Myrna (Mikelson) Stansky. He married Aracely ‘Shelly’ Aragon on June 22, 1990, and they celebrated 34 years of marriage.

He graduated a year early from Gwinn High School in Michigan with the class of 1986 so he could enlist in the US Army. He served his country in Germany, Desert Storm, and South Korea and was proud to fly in and maintain the UH-60 Black Hawk Helicopters as a Crew Chief. He was honorably discharged in 1996 achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

After his military service, Rick attended and graduated from Northwood Technical College (WITC). He went on to work as a machinist at Nexen in Webster, WI and then Field Logic, now Feradyne in Superior as a New Product Development Machinist. Rick was proud to work extra jobs delivering pizzas to pay off his mortgage.

Rick loved hunting. He also enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles. He was very mechanical and enjoyed working on projects.

He was preceded in death by his father; uncle, Bob Stansky; and aunt, Barbara Hanlon.

Rick is survived by his wife, Shelly; mother, Myrna Stansky; son, Ricky Stansky Jr., of Superior; daughters, Cynthia (Mike) Smallman of Virginia, and Erica Olivares of Superior; daughter-in-law, Audra Stansky; grandchildren, Jasmine (Josh), Cruz, Andrea, Karidian, Lucy, and Elliott; siblings, Lance (Vicky) Stansky of Tigerton, WI, Michael Stansky of Gwinn, MI, Jenny (Steve) Stansky of Superior, Debbie (Curt) Marsh of Appleton, MN, and Tom Stansky of Superior; many nieces, nephews, and extended family; and his beloved dog, Mingo.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 7th at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Memorial Cemetery, County Road S, Lake Nebagamon 54849, with Gary Banker as officiant. Military Honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Celebration of Rick’s Life will follow the burial from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at VIP Pizza, 1201 Tower Ave., Superior.
