James Miskulin

MARQUETTE, MI- James E. “Big Jim” “Jimbo” Miskulin, 66, of Marquette, died Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Norlite Nursing Center.

He was born August 11, 1958, in Dearborn, Michigan, a son of the late Steve F. and Barbara A. (Rozman) Miskulin. He was raised in Redford Township, was a graduate of Bishop Borgess High School and attended NMU.

Jim began his career in hospitality with Holiday Inn Michigan, while eventually working his way up to corporate based in Chicago. He managed the Holiday Inn Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. During the mid-80’s Jim made a career move to Marriott, which brought him back home to MI. For many years he managed the Greenfield Inn Dearborn he fondly called The Pink Palace, but once sold moved to the Marriott Troy. Later he oversaw new construction of properties in Tucson, AZ and Lebanon TN.

He was a lover of all things Detroit including their sports teams the Lions, Red Wings and Tigers. He was a member of the Detroit Athletic Club and a proud member of the NMU Marching Band “The Pride of the North”. Jim also was a lover of good food and was a great cook. He loved to share good food, beer, and stories with his family and friends.

A graveside service will be held in the Rousseau Cemetery in the spring.
