Dan Niemi

Dan was born in Marquette and attended Northern Michigan University graduating with a degree in Mathematics. After serving 20 years in the Air Force he retired as a Major and spent the rest of his work-life teaching. He was always someone you could count on and didn’t hesitate to help people out, especially if it involved designing and building or repairing things. He loved to travel and we’re excited for him on his trip into the great beyond until we meet again.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Irene (Palesotti) Niemi and his sons Mark, Matt and David.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Osmo and Ina (Kaukola) Niemi.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1st at Grace Lutheran Church in Gwinn with Rev. Jack Busche officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall following the service.
