Clifford LaFave

CHOCOLAY TWP, MI – Clifford John “Jack” LaFave, age 75, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at his home, in the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Life Care and Hospice.

Jack was born on February 19, 1949 in Munising, MI to Robert and Leona (Krouth) LaFave. He was a lifelong Marquette area resident.

Jack worked for CCI for over 36 years as a heavy equipment operator and on the side owned A & J Logging for roughly 20 years. He and his wife, Christine, also owned and operated their own farm, Head in the Clouds, in Chocolay Township. Jack was lovingly known as “Farmer Jack.”

Jack loved his motorcycle, downhill skiing, fishing and enjoyed being in the woods. He was a big animal lover and was very hard-working. Jack was multitalented and good at any handy-work that was thrown his way.

Jack is survived by his wife and best friend, Christine Forstrom Milliner; the mother of his children, Janice (Steven) Lahti; his children, Michael (Dawn) LaFave, Laurie Olivier (Ernie Lindsey), John LaFave, Christopher Milliner, Richard (Heather) Milliner and Joe (Christine) Milliner; grandchildren, Taylor, Zachary, Madison, Sarah, Jack, Tom, Emma, Francine, Jessica, Skylar, Mackenzie and Joe; several great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Carol “Jeannie” Bridergroom and Leona “Tootsie” LaFave.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Leona LaFave; his step-father, Leon Rochon; his daughter-in-law, Kate (Kariniemi) LaFave; and siblings, Robert “Beano” LaFave, Bobbie Cardew and Dale LaFave.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jack’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
