Ronald Denney
NEGAUNEE, MI- Ronald L. Denney, age 81, lifelong area resident, passed away on Friday December 20, 2024 at the Trillium House in Marquette while under the loving care of UP Home Health and Hospice, and the staff at the Trillium House.
Ronald was born in Ishpeming on January 1, 1943, son of the late William and Betty (Cardew) Denney. He grew up in Ishpeming and was a graduate of Ishpeming High School, class of 1961. Following graduation, Ron served in the United States Army during peacetime. He returned home to the UP after his honorable discharge, and began working for Cliffs where enjoyed a 31.5 year career, retiring as a plant repairman in 1995.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping at his camp on Horseshoe Lake in Republic. He also enjoyed gardening, and playing cribbage, especially on Sundays when he would play crazy cribbage with his good friends Ron Milkey, Tom Andriacchi, Mark Jylha, and others when they were available.
Ron is survived by his brother- Gary (Norma) Denney, significant other- Karen Bush, 2 nieces- Mary and Shannon, Godson- Jim Hytinen, along with Karen’s children and grandchildren and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- William G. Denney, and his many beloved beagles.
Following Ron’s wishes, cremation will take place with no public services. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery in the spring/summer of 2025.
