Richard Ellingsen

Rick was born September 19, 1956 to Constance and Dick Ellingsen in Marquette, MI. He grew up there, graduating from Marquette Senior High School in 1974 and later Northern Michigan University with a degree in electrical technology. He served in the US Navy, stationed on submarines and worked as a corrections officer at Marquette Branch Prison until retirement. When he wasn’t working or taking care of his family you could find him carrying on at Back Door, skiing at Marquette Mountain or golfing.

He always had a story to tell with his gift of gab and hearty laugh. He frequented Jamaica where he enjoyed beaches and laid-back friends in the area of Negril.

Survived by his sons Richard Hartley from Hubbell, MI and Steven Foard (Valeriia) from Plymouth, WI, former wife Barbara, and companion Tia from Jamaica. He had one granddaughter who was the apple of his eye, Mila. Also, his sister Mary (Rich Uren), brother Charlie (Ann) both of Marquette, MI, and half-sister JoAnna (Andy Armstrong) of Winthrop, MA. He shared step-siblings Gary, Steve (Mary), and Krissy Dahlke.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother and father, step-father Gary Dahlke, and nephew Gary Campbell.
