Janet Boase

NEGAUNEE, MI- Janet Claire “Jan” Boase, age 92, longtime Ishpeming resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at Teal Lake Senior Living Community, while in the loving care of her family and UP Home Health and Hospice.

Janet was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on April 12, 1932, and was married to the love of her life T. Jack Boase for 67 years. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Lorna (Alderton) LoFaro. She graduated from Ishpeming High School, Class of 1950 and attended St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Janet discovered her love for music at the age of four when she began playing the piano, a passion she nurtured throughout her life by teaching piano lessons to others.

Alongside her husband, she played a key role in forming the Choraleers and Allegro singing groups, which brought joy to the local community for 30 years, with Janet serving as their talented accompanist. A devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Ishpeming, Janet’s unwavering faith was a guiding force in her life. Her love for words was equally profound; she delighted in reading a book a day and writing lively gossip columns and trivia for her Senior Living Community. True to her vibrant personality, Janet even penned her own obituary, though it has sadly been misplaced. We’re sure it was epic.

Janet is survived by a sister Peggy (Ron) Verch along with four children; Steven (Lori) Boase, Brian (Kim) Boase, Julie (Anthony) Misale and David Boase (Jenny Farnes), grandchildren; Jessica (Jim) Gustitis, Kyle (Melissa) Beauchamp, Courtney (Michael) Verellen, Tony (Lisa) Beauchamp, Matt Boase (Allison Outlund), Robyn (Darren) Thompson, Jordan (Bailey) Boase, Adam (Margaret) Boase, Thomas Jack Boase, Marcus Andrew Boase, Symantha (Andrew) Dattilo, Breanna Misale (Luke Fena), and Anthony Misale III,; great grandchildren; Kalli, Ava, Brody, Ben, Blake, Willa, Drew, Emma, Jacob, Desi, Tanner, Bryce, Lincoln, Cannon, Scarlett, Georgia, and Olivia; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
