Shirley Nardi
ISHPEMING, MI-Shirley A. Nardi, 92, of Marquette, MI, formerly of Caspian, MI, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2024, at UP Health System-Bell in Ishpeming, MI.
She was born on April 29, 1932, in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Earl and Rose (Tersi) Clark. She was born in hard times, but she had the good fortune of growing up in a family that loved and supported each other. She attended the Caspian and Palatka Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School with the class of 1950.
Shirley married Robert Nardi on April 7, 1956. Together they raised six boys. They did not have it easy, but their kids never felt that they missed out on anything. They celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary in 1988. Robert preceded her in death on November 12, 1988.
Throughout the years, she was employed at Michigan Bell, with the local school system as a classroom aide, Coleman Products, and spent the last 28 years of her work life with Krist Oil. Shirley was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian and the Reino Unit 21 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Mary’s in Gaastra until its closure. She enjoyed making homemade pasta, baking, playing cribbage, and crocheting colorful afghans and dishcloths. In her younger years, she enjoyed attending American Legion functions and participating in bowling leagues with her husband. Spending time with family, whether it was hosting Sunday dinners, or attending week-long family reunions held a special place in her heart and provided a lifetime of happy memories.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Steve (Cathy) Nardi of Bristol, WI, Gary Nardi and Mark (Judy) Nardi both of Harlingen, TX and Paul (Kathy) Nardi of Marquette, MI, and special daughter-in-law, Rose (Ron) Pittsley who remained close to Shirley through the years. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tony, Bob, and Mike Nardi, Scott Nardi, David Nardi and Crystall and Victor Ford, Elizabeth Nardi Bennett and Brent Hedgcoth, Rachelle Nardi Stockl and Dan Nardi, and Austin Nardi; 16 great-grandchildren; along with sisters, Rose Marie Haag, Dolores Deatherage, Judith (Mike) Childs, and Sue Winborne; lifelong friend, Rose Bonel Rankinen of Iron River, MI; and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her sons, Peter and Rodney Nardi; brother, Bruce Clark; sisters, LaVerne Allen, Carolyn Reidel, and infant sister, Vivian Clark.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 9:30am to 11:00am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Reino Unit 21 American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a Poppy Ceremony after the visitation. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at 11am with Rev. Daniel Fosu to officiate.
Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
