Louann Lindow

ELKHART LAKE, WI- Louann Clara (Fessler) Lindow, 90, of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at the Bay at Elkhart Lake on October, 10, 2024 with family by her side.

Louann was born on January 6, 1934 in Earlville, Iowa, a daughter of the late Herman and Rose (Schultz) Fessler. Louann attended school in Oneida, Iowa playing on the girls’ basketball team. She graduated salutatorian of the class of 1951.

In 1951, Louann married Robert Drees. On June 6, 1970, she married James Lindow in Waukesha, Wisconsin. After her marriage to Jim, she and her family moved to Elkhart Lake. She worked at Sears in Sheboygan for nine years before they relocated to Marquette, Michigan in 1979. She then worked alongside her husband at Reinhart Foods until retirement. They lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Marquette, Big Bay, and Skanee) for 27 years before moving back to Kiel, Wisconsin in 2006. She became a fixture on Thursday nights at Millhome Supper Club enjoying family and friends while occasionally rolling the right dice. In 2022, she moved to a retirement community, the Landing at Elkhart Lake, and enjoyed her time there taking daily walks, watching her tomatoes grow, feeding the birds, and enjoying the deer that would also come to visit.

An avid outdoors-woman, Louann spent many hours on Lake Independence fishing and in the woods four-wheeling all over the Upper Peninsula with her husband and friends. After retiring, Jim and Louann traveled throughout Europe, Australia, and the United States. Above all else Louann loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with her wonderful children, stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and cherished their visits. She loved being in her garden and always took top prize (bragging rights) in her many tomato competitions. Many family dogs held a special place in Louann’s heart, and she especially enjoyed her dog, Susie, who gave her great comfort over the course of the past year.

A woman of deep faith, Louann was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel and more recently a member at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Elkhart Lake.

Louann is survived by nine children, Barbara (Dave) Brown, Rockville, MD; Jean (Al) Hunley, Pewaukee; Jan Drees, Elkhart Lake; Joe (Gemma) Drees, Sheboygan; Joan (Mike) Lawrence, Sheboygan; Julie (Tom) Wilfahrt, New Ulm, MN; Beverly (her husband, David Dreher) Drees, Elkhart Lake; Jim (Julie) Drees, Elkhart Lake; and Patrick (Kristy Sibilsky) Lindow, Marquette, MI.
