HUMBOLDT TWP – Audrey Marie Ruspakka, age 81, of Humboldt, was surrounded by her family as she peacefully entered the open arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 17 at Brookridge Heights in Marquette.

Audrey was born in Republic on October 10, 1942, daughter of the late Matt and Ailie (Heliste) Mackey, Jr. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated in 1960 from Champion High School. On April 21, 1962, she married the love of her life, Marvin Ruspakka. They were happily married for almost 61 years.

Audrey’s faith was central to her life. She was a member of Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church, and especially loved worship music, Bible study and volunteering with church friends and family. Spending time with her grandchildren and Marvin were her greatest joys in life. She also enjoyed reading, baking, knitting, and visiting over a cup of coffee.

Audrey worked as a secretary at Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. for several years before starting her family, and as a bank teller at Wells Fargo once her youngest child entered high school. She loved spending her free time traveling locally and around the country with Marvin to her children’s activities and sporting events.

Audrey’s children, Steven (Traci) Ruspakka and Shelly (Peter) Remien, were by her side as she made her way to Heaven. She is deeply missed by her six grandchildren- Isak, Anika, Irina and Mira Ruspakka, and Viren and Aila Remien. She is also survived by her sister- Cheryl Dionne and her brother-in-law- Glenn LaCosse.

She was welcomed in Heaven by her husband- Marvin Ruspakka, her daughter- Susan Fraser, her parents- Matt and Ailie Mackey, and her sisters- Kathlyn LaCosse and Peggy Koschtial.

Audrey’s family will greet relatives and friends at Hope Free Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Jensen officiating. Pallbearers will be Isak Ruspakka, Viren Remien, Breckin Jensen, Evan Keranen, Ben Nelson and Landon Nelson.

A potluck luncheon will follow the service in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date at the Humboldt Twp. Cemetery.
