Melissa L. Hall

CHATHAM, MI – Melissa L. Hall, 51, of Chatham, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.

Melissa was born on January 1, 1972 in Chatham to Walter “Wally” and Diane (Richmond) Maki. She was a 1990 graduate of Superior Central High School. She attended Bay College and Northern Michigan University, and received her Master’s degree in 2016.

Melissa worked for Munising Memorial Hospital and Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and most recently for Gogebic County Community Mental Health as their CEO. She was a board member for many years for Superior Central Schools. Melissa enjoyed cross country skiing, riding in the woods on the side by side, fishing and spending time with her family.

Melissa is survived by her husband Thom Hall of Chatham; children, Sarah (Harley) Heikkinen of Houghton, MI; Chyann Hall and Rhyse Hall, both of Marquette; two grandchildren, Makayla and Hotyn; her mother, Diane Maki of Marquette; two brothers, Tracy (Lisa) Maki of Traunik, MI; and Todd (Barb) Maki of Chatham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wally Maki.

A celebration of Melissa’s life will be held on Saturday, July 1st at the New Moon Bar in Eben from 4 until 8 p.m.
