Joseph John Gerry

Joe was born August 26, 1972, in White Pine, Michigan, the son of Joseph John and Sandra Anne (Secor) Gerry, Sr. He was raised in White Pine where he very early developed a love of sports which remained with him for the rest of his life.

He graduated from White Pine High School, Class of 1991, and enrolled at Northern Michigan University, earning his Bachelors Degree in Computer Science in 1996. His long career as a computer programmer began at Champion International in Quinnesec where he was employed from 1996 to 1999. It was during this time that he met and began dating, Jennifer Noel. The couple was united in marriage on November 28, 1998 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Marquette. They established their home in Marquette and Joe began a 16 year employment with Marquette General Hospital as a computer programmer, In 2000, their daughter, Cheryl, was born, followed by sons, Anthony in 2002, and Evan in 2003. From 2015 until the present, Joe has been employed as a computer programmer with the Upper Peninsula Power Company.

Joe was very devoted to his family and was actively involved in supporting, coaching, and following his son’s football, baseball, and basketball endeavors. Joe, himself, was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. In his leisure time, Joe’s interests were focused mainly on family activities and both he and Jennifer were very devoted to the care of their daughter, Cheryl.

Joe was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his wife, Jennifer; sons, Anthony and Evan both of Marquette; his mother, Sandra Gerry of Marquette; sisters, Beth (Todd) Swanson of Negaunee Township and Wilma (Dave) Schoh of Caledonia, MN; his in-laws, Edward and Janice Noel of Marquette; sister-in-law, Lynnette (Steven) Gosian of Maple Grove, MN and Daniel (Michelle) Noel of Chocolay Township; special niece and nephew, Megan and Derek Gosian.

Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Noel Gerry; and his father, Joseph John Gerry, Sr.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Wednesday, June 7, beginning at 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. Rev. Daniel Moll will officiate.

A reception will follow in the funeral home reception room. Interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
