Donna Marie Fritzler

Donna was born on May 8th, 1935, in Flushing, Michigan, to Carl and Eva Dowland. She married Marion C. “Fritz” Fritzler on January 23rd, 1954. They raised three children: Doris, Craig and Kurt. She moved with her husband and children to Marquette on November 14th, 1969 and worked with her husband as the bookkeeper for Standard Oil until they bought the agency, which became Fritzler Oil Company, Inc. Donna also worked for Hardee’s in Marquette for 14 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting her famous dishcloths and afgans that she would happily give to family and friends as gifts. She also enjoyed blueberry picking and blueberry pies, reading, and spending time with friends and family visiting, playing games, and working puzzles.

Surviving relatives are two sons, Craig (Jadine) Fritzler and Kurt (Denise) Fritzler; one brother, William Dowland; two brothers-in-law, Carl (Jan) Fritzler and John Fritzler; seven granddaughters, Amy Salminen, Jill (Jason) Perroud, Joy (John) Benz, Rachel (Jon Conley) Fritzler, Kristin (Nate) Olgren, Bethany (Kaylon) Godoy, and Koehl (Ryan) Talbot and 16 great-grandchildren, Samuel Becker, Eva Perroud, Claire Perroud, Luke Perroud, Kayla Benz, Katelyn Benz, Kara Benz, Zoe Lindberg, Sophia Olgren, Aiden Olgren, Jordan Godoy, Jaden Godoy, Messi Godoy, Saoirse Talbot, Ailah Talbot, Rowan Talbot.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 58 years, Marion C. “Fritz” Fritzler; her parents, Carl and Eva Dowland; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Susie Fritzler; her sister, Dorothy Spearling; four brothers, Donald Dowland, Duane Dowland, Delane Dowland, and Robert Dowland; nine sisters-in-law, Marie Fritzler, Annie Dowland, Jean Fritzler, Idella Porret, Ruie Chase, Naomi Barker, and Ledonna McNea, Carolyn Worley, Kay Fritzler; her daughter, Doris Salminen and son-in-law, Jack Salminen; her great-grandson, Jairus Godoy.

The family would like to thank all the care aides and nurses and others at the Trillium House and Lake Superior Home Health and Hospice for their service to Donna and the family.

Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Silver Creek Church on Monday, January 30th, 2023, with visitation at 10:30 AM and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM. A reception will follow. Interment will be made in the Northland Chapel Gardens.
