Melinda S. Thill

Melinda was born on February 1st, 1985, in Marquette, to Patrick and Susan (Summerlee) Thill.

She was a 2003 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and then attended Northern Michigan University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

Melinda worked at Meister’s greenhouse in Harvey, as well as, Wendy’s. More recently she followed her creative passions as a self-employed silverware jewelry artist where she sold her jewelry at numerous local craft-shows and a local art gallery.

Melinda was a kind and beautiful person with a smile that could brighten your day. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, cooking, gardening and music festivals. She was very talented with crafting ceramics and repurposing and making silverware jewelry. Melinda also enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her son, Mikko.

Melinda is survived by her son, Mikko Lantto of Marquette; mother, Sue (Mike) Magel of Marquette; father, Patrick “Pat” Thill of Ishpeming; sister, Keri Thill of Marquette; stepsisters, Micaela Magel and Mackenzie Bailey, as well as, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Melinda’s life will be held on Sunday, November 6th, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the Masonic Center in Marquette.

There will be a potluck dinner and sharing of memories will take place at 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made directly to Melinda’s family.
