Maria Zinis
MARQUETTE, MI – Maria Zinis, 91, passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2022, of natural causes, at Christian Park Health Center, Escanaba, Michigan.
She was born to Panfillo and Anna Fabilli on April 9th, 1931. Maria immigrated at the age of 16 from the Province of L’Aquila, Italy to the U.S. where she learned to speak and read English and became a citizen. Maria was married to the love of her life Walter Zinis for 18 years and had 3 children. She worked for Ogden Foods/ARA in the Executive Dining Room at the Chrysler- Mound Road Plant in Detroit and retired after 30 plus years. Maria moved from her home in Eastpointe to Marquette, Michigan and lived at Snowberry Heights before her short stay at Christian Park.
Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters and brothers; Paul, Carmen, Vera, Florence, Julia and Regetta.
Maria is survived by her children: Michael (Valerie), Mary Lou and Tony (Reece); her grandchildren Nicholas, Katie (Greg), Greg (Ashley), Tommy (Stacy), Andrea (Braden), Stephanie (Ron), and Shaunna (Ryan); great-grandchildren: Julia, Myles, Nora, Dean, Tripp, Amelia, Will, Sawyer, and Elliana.
Friends may call at Holy Innocents-St. Barnabas Catholic Church (16359 Frazho Road, Roseville, MI 48066) on Saturday, October 15th, beginning at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday morning with Rev. John Wynnycky, pastor, as celebrant. Lunch is at 1:00 pm.
Interment will be made in Mt Olivet Cemetery.
