Michael Anderson

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN / NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Michael Clifton Anderson, 59, of St. Louis Park, MN and Negaunee Twp., passed away peacefully at the family camp on the Dead River Basin on Sunday afternoon, August 8, 2021, in the care of his loving family and UP Home Health & Hospice.

Michael was born April 24, 1962, in Ishpeming, to Ronald and Carolyn (Holman) Anderson. He grew up in North Lake and graduated from Westwood High School, Class of 1980. He continued his education at Michigan State University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Theater Arts Management. He then attended Augsburg College in St. Paul, MN, earning his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. He was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years between the Chaska and Edina Public School Districts in Minnesota.

Michael was a member of the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. He was very involved in the arts, even at a young age where he was involved in PAAC. Michael had recently worked with a local church putting together a summer theater program for elementary aged children, and was also an avid painter. Michael’s favorite place to be was the family camp on the Dead River Basin where he was surrounded by loving family.

Surviving are his husband, Mark Nardi; his mother, Carolyn Anderson; his brother, Kurt (Joclyn) Anderson; three aunts: Joy Holman, Patty Holman and Marian Anderson; three nephews: Jared Anderson, Kurt Anderson, Ronald (Heather) Anderson and their children, Gavin, Eiler and Elsie; and nieces, Jennifer Anderson and Amanda Holman.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Anderson; his brother, Randy (Lois) Anderson; and his sister, Debbie Wood.

Honoring Michael’s wishes, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Michael’s memory to the Vista Theater Raise the Roof Project, C/O – Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council, 218 Iron St., Negaunee, MI 49866
