MARQUETTE — As part of an expanded Giving Tuesday effort, Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan (LLF Michigan) donated new copies of “Inspire the World: A Kid’s Journey to Making a Difference,” by young author Sammie Vance to small rural libraries throughout Upper and Lower Michigan.

Released in 2021, the book donated by LLF Michigan encourages acts of generosity by sharing the story of eight-year-old Sammie Vance’s efforts to improve the lives of lonely children. In the story, Sammie brings her fellow students and the community together to create “Buddy Benches” while advocating for recycling through the collection of plastic bottle caps to construct 100 percent recycled benches.

Special area projects are being held at the following area libraries:

≤ Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library – Placemats and tie-dye window decorations for the local senior center.

≤ Negaunee Public Library – Handmade bookmarks made for all patrons.

≤ Powell Township School Library – Greeting card creation for area hospitals.

Starting at $4.62/week.
