Charitable effort honors Dr. Cate

Cate’s Car Seats for Kids is a newly established charitable venture which seeks to honor the memory of Marquette native Dr. Catherine Edgell (“Dr. Cate”). The inaugural fundraiser was held at Alluma Yoga on July 15, 2024, Dr. Cate’s birthday. Over $300 was raised, which enabled the purchase of three highly specialized low birth weight car seats. Dr. Cate’s mother, Isabel, is a care manager at the Upper Peninsula Health Plan. Working with her employer, Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions, and Community Action Marquette, a mechanism for purchasing and distributing car seats to those who need them most was established. Dr. Cate was a hospitalist, and dedicated to ensuring her patients had what they needed upon leaving the hospital. Low birth weight babies cannot go home with their parents until they have the appropriate car seat. At a cost of more than $100, many parents in the Upper Peninsula cannot afford to purchase these seats. Cate’s Car Seats for Kids will continue to raise funds and awareness of this problem which prevents families from bringing their baby home. A Go Fund Me account has been created, which can be found here: https://gofund.me/96e45750

Starting at $4.62/week.
