Graveraet Class of 1963 gathers for reunion
MARQUETTE — Over the weekend of Aug. 18-20, members of the Marquette Graveraet High School Class of 1963 gathered in a variety of venues to socialize, reminisce and update one another as to their activities, families and locations.
An early evening mixer was held at the Barrel + Beam (formerly the Northwoods Supper Club) on Aug. 18 to kick off the weekend’s events and was well attended by classmates and their spouses.
With warm weather that weekend, Donna and John Marshal hosted a beach afternoon on Aug. 19 as their home on Middle Island Point Road. That was a prelude to the evening’s festivities of dinner and a brief program of “sharing updates” at the Marquette Golf and Country Club.
No formal class picture was taken, although six members of the class — who had transferred to GHS upon the 1961 closing of John D. Pierce High School — gathered for a group photo.
The reunion’s final event involved a gathering at Presque Isle Park Aug. 20 for those staying in the area and seeking a final opportunity to interact with classmates.
A press release states: “Our classmates send ‘thanks’ to the reunion committee members for their efforts on everyone’s behalf in arranging for and bringing the reunion festivities together!”
