Poetry events at NPL
NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Public Library is hosting local poets and offering poetry events in April for National Poetry Month. All events are free to attend.
All month, the public is invited to help the library grow a “poet-tree.” Stop by the library and write a poem, a favorite quote, or a creative thought on a leaf and watch the tree grow with community inspiration.
Local poets Troy Graham and Gala Malherbe will read selections of their works at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 7.
Local poet Kathleen Heideman will read selections of her works at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 9. Her new book, “Caving Grounds,” focuses on Negaunee history.
The library will hold a blackout poetry night at beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15. Transform old pages into new works of art and create unique poems by blacking out words on a page to reveal a hidden meaning. All supplies will be provided and no experience is needed.
For more information on any event, visit the library’s Facebook page or call 906-475-7700, ext. 18.
