SRA completes work on new waiting area

The Lake Superior Community Partnership recently assisted with a ribbon- cutting ceremony at Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport to celebrate the completed expansion of the waiting area. Approved by the Marquette County Board, this initiative increased seating capacity and improved passenger convenience within the terminal. With growing traveler numbers due to overlapping departures of American Airlines and Delta Air Lines flights, the previous post-security seating area had become overcrowded. To create more space, airport officials relocated the security checkpoint closer to the terminal entrance, allowing for the addition of 65 new seats. The project, which cost approximately $400,000, has created a more pleasant and efficient travel experience. “We are thrilled to provide a more comfortable and spacious waiting area for our passengers,” said Duane DuRay, Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport director. “This expansion allows travelers to relax and enjoy their time at the airport before their flights, making Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport an even more welcoming gateway to our community. We appreciate the county’s and our partners’ support in making this project a reality.” For more details on Marquette Sawyer Regional Airport, visit sawyerairport.com.
