MARQUETTE — Firefighters early Wednesday extinguished an electrical fire in a tractor-trailer truck at the Taystee Bakery, 855 W. Washington St. Marquette. No one was injured and damage was confined to the tractor. Six firefighters in two fire engines and a department pickup truck responded to the fire at 25 minutes before midnight. They left the scene a 1:10 a.m. Fire chief Tom Belt said a watchmen reported smoke in the bakery and firefighters had to search the building for the fire before finding it under the hood of the truck parked in the bakery garage.

NEGAUNEE — Leaders of Negaunee’s three Boy Scout troops today thanked all persons who made contributions to toys and materials which enabled the Scouts to distribute playthings to 403 children of 143 needy families at Christmas. Almost 100 more toys were given out this year than in 1933. “We especially wish to thank,” said the leaders, “H.S. Doolittle, superintendent of schools, and the high school board of education for use of high school facilities in repairing and painting toys, the Miller estate for use of store building for display purposes, and the Girl Scouts for their donation of dolls.”
