UP CityFest set for July 6
MARQUETTE — UP CityFest is set for 1-8 p.m. July 6 in the Mattson Lower Harbor Park.
On the Statue of Liberty, it is inscribed “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. In the Good Book, there are two great commandments. The first is love God with all your heart and the second is love your neighbor as yourself. Organizers want to show the love of Jesus to their community. There’s something for the whole family.
There are kids games, coloring books and a petting zoo. For your middle school and high school ages and up, we have an E sport competition with Super Smash Brothers with a free time so kids and parents can compete.
There’s a live music with the local band 41 West; a reggae band with a little New Orleans soul. Flame, a hip-hop band, is a favorite of the young people! Finally, our headliner Rhett Walker, a country style music, is on top of the Christian music charts. UP CityFest was born out of the COVID-19 pandemic. It started by serving meals to homeless and this festival is a celebration of life. For the first time, free food will be available thanks to the support of individuals, businesses and churches. Organizers want to help anyone who is anxious, depressed or fighting with addictions.
This is the only major youth focused, drug and alcohol-free event for Marquette County.
