MARQUETTE – The Marquette Super 8 Motel, along with others in the chain, will offer free lodging Christmas Eve to friends and relatives visiting patients in hospitals, veterans’ homes, nursing homes or treatment centers. Because the number of rooms may be limited, rooms should be reserved as early as possible. Advanced registration should be made by contacting the property directly or by calling Super 8’s toll-free reservation center at (800) 800-8000. Last year, 1,326 rooms were given away during the firm’s “Rooms at the Inn” program.

MARQUETTE – Initial plans were adopted in the Northern Michigan University Student Center for the 1964 Michigan Education Association Regional Conference, which will be held Thursday and Friday, Oct. 8 and 9, 1964, at Northern. A 28-member planning committee has been appointed to plan for a three day activity which will attract approximately 3,000 teachers to the conference. More than 70 group meetings are scheduled with special emphasis on the National Education Association Project “Schools for the 60’s.” Wyndal Hudson, executive director of the Marquette Chamber of Commerce, offered assistance in carrying out conference arrangements. He said the chamber will handle housing reservations, will fly orchids from Honolulu for the women teachers, has proposed an annual “Teacher of the Year” award sponsored by the Marquette Chamber, will maintain a booth at the conference, and will host officials at a Friendship hour.

Starting at $4.62/week.
