Suspects wanted in Minnesota homicide arrested Monday in Ishpeming Township

ISHPEMING — The Michigan State Police have arrested suspects wanted in a Minnesota homicide case.

On Monday, the MSP were notified by the Moorehead Police Department that two individuals wanted in connection to a homicide in Moorehead, Minnesota were believed to be in the Ishpeming area. The homicide, which occurred on Sunday, resulted in the death of a male victim.

MSP detectives located the suspects traveling in a vehicle on Monday morning. MSP troopers from Eighth District headquarters subsequently conducted a traffic stop on M-28 near North Second Street in Ishpeming Township. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident. Both individuals are lodged at the Marquette County Jail on their outstanding warrants from Minnesota and are currently awaiting extradition.

The 35-year-old male suspect from Moorehead is charged with four counts; murder-second degree with intent not premeditated, murder-second degree drive-by shooting, attempted murder-first degree with intent while committing a drive-by shooting, and attempted murder-second degree with intent not premeditated. His alleged accomplice, a 32-year-old female suspect from Ishpeming, is charged with aiding an offender-second degree murder intentional.

The arrest was the result of a coordinated effort between the MSP Special Investigation Section, the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, the Eighth District Traffic Safety Team, the Ishpeming Police Department, the Moorehead Police Department, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

MSP continues to work closely with the Moorehead Police Department as the investigation continues.
