High-risk team response leads to arrest in Kingsford

KINGSFORD — A suspect in an illegal firearms and narcotics operation was arrested late Monday in what law enforcement described as a high-risk situation.

Local law enforcement agencies and the Critical Incident Response Team, or CIRT, were activated due to the dangerous nature of the situation and the criminal activity under investigation, according to a news release from Kingsford Public Safety Department Director Brandon Rutter.

A coordinated effort between law enforcement ensured a safe and effective operation with no injuries reported to officers or civilians. No location was provided for where the arrest was made.

Authorities have charged the suspect with multiple offenses related to illegal firearms possession and narcotics distribution, according to the news release. The suspect’s name was withheld pending arraignment. Further details regarding the charges and ongoing investigation will be released later.

The arrest was made with the support of several local agencies, including the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Iron Mountain Police Department, Norway Police Department, KIND Drug Enforcement Team, Integrity Care Ambulance and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.
